Our French Mint Mineral Toothpaste

What is Bastét?

Bastét is a modern oral care brand designed for human systems. We are built on the belief that your toothpaste should do more than clean; it should protect, restore, and support the long-term health of your entire oral ecosystem. Our hero product, the French Mint Mineral Toothpaste, is formulated with 10% nano-hydroxyapatite, the same mineral your enamel is made of alongside a thoughtfully curated stack of bioactive, non-toxic ingredients.

The name Bastét comes from the ancient Egyptian goddess of protection, pleasure, and good health. These three values guided every formulation and design decision we made. Oral care as ritual. Made in Canada. Designed for modern aesthetics.

What makes Bastét different?

Most natural toothpaste remove harmful ingredients but don’t replace them with anything scientifically meaningful. Bastét does both. We’ve removed fluoride, SLS, parabens, carrageenan, titanium dioxide, and artificial everything and replaced the active work with a formulation built around three principles:

  • Remineralization: 10% nano-hydroxyapatite the clinically identified optimal concentration rebuilds enamel from within
  • Microbiome support: Algin (a seaweed-derived prebiotic), xylitol, and erythritol actively support beneficial oral bacteria without disrupting the ecosystem
  • Holistic protection: Zinc citrate, coconut oil, green tea extract, and lemon peel create a multi-pathway antibacterial defence without a single gram of free sugar or harsh surfactant
What is nano-hydroxyapatite and why does it matter?

Nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HA or nHA) is a biomimetic mineral meaning it’s synthesised to be chemically identical to the hydroxyapatite that makes up 97% of your tooth enamel and 70% of your dentin. When you brush with it, the nano-sized particles (roughly 20 nanometres) bond directly to your enamel, filling in microscopic cracks and demineralized areas with the exact mineral your teeth are made of.

The result: enamel that is measurably harder, more resistant to acid attack, whiter (because a smoother surface reflects more light), and less sensitive (because nano-HA occludes the dentinal tubules, the tiny channels that connect to nerve endings).

What ingredients does Bastét NOT contain.

Bastét is free from:

  • Fluoride — replaced by 10% nano-HA, which remineralizes enamel comparably without fluorosis risk or toxicity concerns
  • SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) — a foaming surfactant linked to oral mucosal irritation and canker sore frequency
  • Carrageenan — a seaweed binder flagged by clean beauty watchdogs for potential mucosal irritation
  • Parabens — endocrine-disrupting preservatives
  • Titanium dioxide — a whitening agent with ongoing safety debate
  • Artificial colours, flavours, and dyes
  • Propylene glycol
  • Free sugars (no honey, no glucose, no sucrose)

No compromises. Nothing that earns its place through production convenience rather than your health.

Who is Bastét for?

Bastét is everyone. Bastet is for everyone who has the courage to aspire for more. Bastet is for people who care as much about what goes in their body as what goes on it. If you read ingredient labels, prefer non-toxic formulations, or have been searching for a fluoride-free toothpaste that actually has clinical backing this was made for you. It’s also ideal for anyone managing enamel erosion, sensitivity, or gum inflammation, as our formulation addresses all three without harsh actives.

Is this third party tested?

Yes. Our formulation undergoes third-party testing to verify ingredient safety, formula stability, and absence of heavy metals and contaminants. We hold ourselves to the same standards we’d expect from any product entering the clean beauty space.

Our Packaging and Substainbility

What is the tube made of?

Bastét’s French Mint Mineral Toothpaste is packaged in a 100% recyclable aluminium tube. Aluminium is infinitely recyclable without degradation in material quality unlike plastic, which down cycles with each recycling cycle and eventually ends up in landfill. We are able to use this packaging because our formula contains no coercive ingredients. Most toothpastes packaged in aluminum require a polymer lining due to their corrosive properties.

It also happens to look exceptional on a countertop. We believe beautiful design and responsible materials should coexist and that oral care doesn’t need to be hidden in a drawer.

How do I recycle the tube?

Once empty, squeeze out any remaining toothpaste, leave the cap on, and place the tube in your regular metal/aluminium recycling.

Is Bastét vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes on both counts. Bastét contains no animal-derived ingredients, and neither our products nor our ingredients are tested on animals. We are committed to clean beauty in the fullest sense: good for you, good for animals, good for the planet.

Where are your products manufactured?

Were proud that our products are formulated and manufactured in Canada.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated based on your location and the items in your order. You will always know the shipping price before you purchase.

How long will a tube last?

With twice-daily use of a pea-sized amount, one tube lasts approximately 1–2 months. We recommend keeping a second tube on hand not because you’ll run out unexpectedly, but because building a consistent ritual is the foundation of everything Bastét is designed to do.
